Pinellas Real Estate Home Owners - Will Negative Home Equity Fixed With New Plan?

Pinellas County Florida - Well if you were like me sitting in my house in Clearwater watching the Presidential debates last night you were probably surprised (ok I thought I would fall out of my seat) to hear John McCain drop a bomb…a substantial new program for homeowners.

Rolling the Dice on Mortgage Solutions I was sitting there wondering:

I heard New’s pundits say the plan would cost $300 Billion dollars (Does anyone else remember when that was considered A LOT like of money?

Is anyone else getting numb and having a hard time keeping up with all the blank checks being written…$700 Billion here, oh I mean $850 Billion after pork…now $300 Billion more ).

Part of me thought, “I’ve gotta get a money printing machine like the Government has - if only our personal budgets worked that way”.

Now I’d definitely love to see our Pinellas Real Estate home prices stabilize, however, I seriously worry about the “unintended consequences” when the government start “managing our real estate market“.

This plan is targeted at home sellers facing foreclosure and those who own homes that are now worth less than they owe, hence the negative equity position. John McCain’s proposal for Home Sellers Facing Foreclosure

McCain’s says the plan’s goal is to keep families in their homes, avoid foreclosures, save failing neighborhoods, stabilize the housing market and attack the roots of our financial crisis.  (We’d all like to see the housing market stablized)

Who benefits from new Home Mortgage Plan?

America’s families are bearing a heavy burden from falling housing prices, mortgage delinquencies, foreclosures, and a weak economy. (The assumption is because the had the wrong mortgage)

How will the Home Mortgage Plan work?

Who qualifies for American Home Ownership Resurgence Plan?

The McCain resurgence plan would be available to mortgage holders that:

What kind of new mortgage would home owners get?

What will this Home Owner Mortgage Plan Cost Taxpayers?

Their believe is that this plan could be implemented quickly as a result of the authorities provided in the stabilization bill, the recent housing bill, and the U.S. government’s conservatorship of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.  It may be necessary for Congress to raise the overall borrowing limit of FHA loans.

So I’m curious - do you think this plan is a good thing or a bad thing?

Jack-like you- are we going to bail ourselves into oblivion?
I was a Romney man, but cannot stand the thought of Obama. However, I feel the same for McCain’s plan as I do (below)about what I just heard: that Paulson is considering taking over part ownership (he calls it investing) of some of the banks by the US Gov.

Is that not just another giant step (leap) toward SOCIALISM ! The Gov does not run anything well - Social Security, Medicare, now Prescription Drug Program, and next the Banks???? The good ole GOV is the source of pressures on the banks in the 90’s to loan money to those who cannot afford “so everyone can have a house” ————and caused all this stuff today! So now they want to OWN the banks - and some don’t think they will then have a real say so in their policies?

Facts show that it was the Dems in the 1990’s under Bill Clinton & the Community Redevelopment Plan that led to this mess. And now with help of Obama’s prescious ACORN Organization & their fraudulent registration efforts, just add to the media’s real colors against accepting responsibility for own actions.

The govt is out of control. Can anyone say term limits, maybe someone else should have a go at it? I really support Ron Paul. If you were able to watch the hearings on the bailout, like I did; Mr. Paul is the only one who asked the big picture question of the Mr.Benake sp? I would really be nice for all of us if govt just didn’t do anything and let the free market decide who gets a loan, not everyone gets to have a house! Some people just don’t make good financial decisions! Try saving, starting a business, doing something for ourselves not govt help and income redistribution! How much can the UNITED STATES CITIZENS afford in taxes & National DEBT!!!!!!

Randy and Matt - we are believers in free market economics and have concerns however I learned today that most of John McCain’s plan was already approved in the “Bailout Plan”.

We were raised to work hard and be self reliant - it’s not always EASY - my father was born in a Guatemala and they struggled to get an education and slowly achieve the American dream - there is such beauty and pride in that process in my humble opinion.

I am not interested in SOCIALISM and worry about the slippery slope we are on as a county. Ok enough said - thanks for sharing your thoughts and opinions - all are welcome here.

Cindy, I about fell out of my chair when I heard that. In fact, I got so angry, I turned off the debate and went to a Law & Order re-runs. What happened to accepting responsibility?

  5. Meredine

This new plan is a bit suspicious, but everyone has it’s own view on it.
