Clearwater Florida - Today we are sharing some helpful hints we hope you can use around your Clearwater house. If you own kitchen knives, you better keep them honed. That’s because a dull knife blade not only slows you down in the kitchen, but it can be more dangerous than its ready-to-cut counterpart, too.
In this brief, 2-minute video, you’ll learn how to use a knife steel to keep your kitchen cutlery in top form.
Among the tips:
- Hold your knife at a 20-degree angle to the steel for maximum effect
- 10 swipes per side is sufficient to keep the blade straight
- Mid-range knife steels are the best choice for most kitchens
Most knife steels don’t actually sharpen knives. Instead, they straighten the microscopic teeth that make the knives work. And that’s okay. Just remember use the steel every time you use your knife.

Sand Key Florida Spring Fest - Clearwater Beach
Clearwater Fl - Calling all Sand Key Florida homeowners and neighbors - What are you doing tomorrow, April 17th 2010? This weekend you’ll find more than amazing beaches in one of Clearwater’s best waterfront neighborhoods…
Check out all the fun things to do at the First Annual Sand Key SpringFest. It is being called the “biggest Block Party this island has ever seen” and is being put on by the Sand Key Civic Association.
Where: It will be held at the Shoppes of Sand Key.
When: Saturday April 17th, Noon to 7pm
They will have a big tent and all the activities are starting at noon. They will have live entertainment, food, refreshments and special entertainment from Al “Coffee” McDaniels who is a well known blues musician.
If you are worried about finding parking on Sand Key Clearwater Beach on a spring Saturday - don’t be! The Sand Key Civic Association has arranged to have FREE transportation from the Jolley Trolley and it will be making a constant look up and down Sand Key on Saturday - from the Marina to the Park. You can take advantage of the FREE trolley rides from noon until 7pm.

Clearwater FL - Wow the time is fast approaching and our taxes are due April 15. If you’re among the millions of Americans who wait until the last week to file, here’s a video interview that could help you reduce your federal tax liability.

This video was originally broadcast by NBC’s The Today Show, in 4-minutes they review various tax credits and deductions you may be eligible for, plus some recent tax law changes.
Check out a few of the topics they covered:
- Tax filers receiving larger “personal exemptions” in 2009 versus 2008
- Unemployment income recipients being required pay taxes beyond the first $2,400 received
- The “first time” home buyer credit for Clearwater FL home buyers and those around the country is being extended to non-first time home buyers for up to $6,500
The interview also talks about how taking a parent, child or other family member into your home may change your tax filing status and reduce your tax liability.
Even if you’ve filed your taxes already consider still watching the video above. You may find that you missed a potential deduction. If that’s the case, consider filing an amended return with the IRS to recapture the credits you left on the table. Most times, the benefits of re-filing will outweigh the costs of doing it.
