Fun Things to do in Tarpon Springs Florida
Tarpon Springs, Florida is home to two of Pinellas Counties best Public Parks and today I‘d like to share information with you on A.L. Anderson Park located in Tarpon Springs Florida and is situated on Lake Tarpon.
Fred H Howard Park is the other Pinellas Park located in Tarpon Spings Florida and juts out into the Gulf of Mexico complete with it’s own beach.
Anderson Park – Boating, Dog Park, Picnics, Playgrounds and More
Pinellas County Park, A. L. Anderson Park, is made up of almost 130 acres of green space in Northern Pinellas County.
It has a distinctive hilly terrain and long nature trail and boardwalk along Lake Tarpon and Salmon Bay.
A.L. Anderson Park also has a playground for kids and is a favorite among Tampa Bay doggie paw grounds for dogs. This Pinellas County Park also had large areas of ample picnic tables overlooking the waterfront.
A. L. Anderson park officially opened in 1982 and is named after a former commissioner who was a fisherman and also won several conservation awards.
Today I want share some of my favorite things about A L Anderson Park in Tarpon Springs are:
-
The Pinellas County public boat ramps for easy access to freshwater boating, jet skiing and more – the large parking lot is appreciated on busy holidays and weekends;
- These Pinellas County Parks have an elaborate Paw Playground for man’s best friend – the dog park is complete with fire hydrants, water and more;
- Playground for kids as well that overlooks Lake Tarpon and hilly terrain.
- It has several shaded picnic shelters – Bar-B-Ques, Family Picnics and Birthday Parties are a few of the uses that come to mind; One sits overlooking Lake Tarpon.
- Public restroom facilities are kept neat in clean in my experience;

Camping Near Clearwater Beach Florida – Fishing, Biking, Shelling and Sunday’s Sunset
December 16th, 2007 Categories: Fishing, Parks and Recreration, Pinellas County, Sunday Sunsets, Tampa Beach Living, Things to do, Tierra Verde Florida
Clearwater Beach Florida Sunset Series
I’m breaking all the rules this week since this week’s sunset is found south of Clearwater Beach FL in Tierra Verde Florida and Ft Desoto Park. We’ve even included a video to help share the experience this week. So next week we’ll be back to normal with a sunset quote and the spotlight on one special sunset.
We got to take time off this past week from selling homes and condos on Clearwater Beach Florida to go tent camping in Tierra Verde with my parents who came down from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to spend some quality time with my family and be here to celebrate some family birthdays.
Jack was a trooper and was running back and forth between the campsite and Clearwater Beach since we had clients visiting from Massachusetts along with several buyers working towards closing on their homes for Christmas.
We sometimes
forget how lucky we are to be able to do “tent camping” along the Gulf beaches near Clearwater for a variety of reasons. First, it’s such comfortable weather it was in the 80’s all week; Second, it’s a bargain when you consider it costs less than $40 per night with electricity, running water, clean and safe facilities and more; Third, it’s truly a piece of waterfront paradise on the Gulf of Mexico.
The best part of camping around Clearwater FL in the winter (ok actually there is one more week of fall left but don’t tell my friends up north) is you get to experience the best parts of Pinellas County Gulf beach living without having to travel very far.
You can go fishing from the park seawall or the gulf of mexico pier; birdwatching along the Great Florida Bird Trail, collecting sand dollars and shelling along the beach, biking through the trails, and just hanging out relaxing in the hammocks – ending each day watching the sun dip below the water with the promise of another beautiful day tomorrow.
If you have a sunset you want to share just email it to me at cyndee@sandbarstosunsets.com
Clearwater Beach Real Estate Agents Favorite Florida Sunset from week Camping

Thanks for allowing me to share a little about the fun we have living in Clearwater Florida and our extensive parks and recreation system in Pinellas County that we feel justified in bragging about.
As the sunset on our week of old fashion family fun at Ft Desoto Park – it was great to experience a week with no gameboys, no TV’s just serene walks, personal talks and hanging out in the hammocks.
I thought you’d get a kick seeing our youngest enjoy sleeping under the Florida stars in shorts – we definitely had perfect Clearwater winter weather.
This is the picture I’ll carry in my mind of “total relaxation and comfort” – isn’t that what we all are looking for. Not to worry, we’ve got lots of great outdoor retreats here in and around Clearwater Florida. We look forward to sharing more special sunsets from our piece of paradise.
Wishing you a great upcoming week – remember not to get too hurried with all the holiday hustle and bustle to enjoy some old fashion fun with your family and friends.
From our family to your’s have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
Gotta a local sunset – won’t you share?

Clearwater Beach Florida’s Pier 60 – Sunday’s Sunset
December 9th, 2007 Categories: Clearwater Beach Florida, Clearwater Florida, Parks and Recreration, Sunday Sunsets, Tampa Beach Living, Things to do, Waterfront Living
Clearwater Beach Florida Sunset Series
We thought it was only fitting to use a photo from one of our favorite sunset spots of all time – Pier 60 on Clearwater Beach Florida.
It’s a place where we “celebrate” the sun setting each day with performers, crafters, music and more – we give Key West a definite run for their money. Kids enjoy the 2 playgrounds too.
If you have a sunset you want to share just email it to me at cyndee@sandbarstosunsets.com
We are treated to some of the most majestic sunsets each day in Clearwater Beach Florida and the surrounding beaches. We’re lucky because Pier 60 is home of the Best City Beach, Clearwater Beach – and it’s in our backyard.
We get to experience the magic evening as we relax and enjoy watching the sun settle into the Gulf of Mexico. In Clearwater Beach Florida we always take our sunsets seriously.
This week is now over and we are looking forward to the upcoming week with our family from Philadelphia Pennsylvania that’s visiting. Did I mention it was 80 degrees on December 9th 2007 – sunsets seem better when you’re watching in your bare feet with the white sand between your toes.
– Wish you were here!

Pinellas County, Florida - Lake Freshwater Fishing and Boating
Freshwater Boating on Lakes in Pinellas County:
Pinellas County, Florida has three popular FRESHWATER public boat docks and boat launching facilities along Lake Tarpon and Lake Seminole for those Pinellas County area residents that enjoy fishing, waterskiing, jet skiing, kayaking, canoeing and more…
About Lake Tarpon: We are blessed to have Lake Tarpon located in Northern Pinellas County. This large popular freshwater lake is 5 miles long and one mile wide and is 8 to 12 feet deep on average so it can handle recreational boating of powerboats, jet skis as well as canoes and kayaks.

Lake Seminole was actually created in the 1940s and has been used extensively since then for boating, skiing and fishing.

Clearwater Florida | Free Workshop teaches How to Have a Holly Jolly Green Christmas

Pinellas County Brooker Creek Preserve – Sustainable Living
Pinellas County Florida has invested in protecting our environment and one such example is their work to create Brooker Creek Preserve, 8500 acres in Tarpon Springs Florida.
The Friends of Brooker Creek Preserve help raise funds to be able to provide more local green education and eco-friendly work especially as it pertains to our local watershed. They also support the Brooker Creek Environmental Education Center. The Brooker Creek Environmental Education Center is open 9:00am – 4:00pm Wednesday – Sundays (Note: it is Closed Mondays and Tuesdays)

Clearwater Florida Family shares Favorite Eco Friendly Wrapping Project
Green Gift Wrapping: One of our families favorite eco-friendly gift wrapping ideas is to purchase the brown lunch bags and use our rubber stamps to decorate them.
Even my youngest son can do a great job making one-of-a-kind eco-friendly gift wrapping.
A few years ago we found rubber stamps on a roller – these are great for decorating larger items like butcher block paper and holiday cards on recycled paper.
Eco-Friendly Decorations: For years we have combed the beaches and picked shells with a natural hole in them. We can then string them to make a one-of-a kind ornament and my youngest has even made special “shell jewelry” – it’s something everyone treasures.
Can you believe the holidays are around the corner? Do you have a eco-friendly decorating tip or other idea to make our holidays special? I’d love to have you share your tip below…don’t be afraid to comment, it’s always welcome here!
