Loved Tampa Bay Watch 2nd Annual Pumpkins on the Porch
October 30th, 2010 Categories: Tierra Verde Florida
Tierra Verde Florida – Last night we went to Tampa Bay Watch’s 2nd Pumpkins on the Porch. It was a wonderful evening overlooking the bay and we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful sunset or weather. Jennifer Silva, their Director of Development, said they were thrilled to have this opportunity to “give back to the Tampa Bay community” – and so appreciative of the community business and civic support to enable the evening to be FREE to everyone who came since sponsors donated all the goodies and fun. ![]()
We had pumpkins to carve, a live DJ, decorating apples on a stick with gooey carmel and sprinkles, face painting, games, movie, Dunkin Donuts, snow cones, pinata and the Lealman Fire Dept had all kinds of goodies from popcorn to reflective wristlets they gave the kids to use on Halloween. Who could believe we’d do so much in just 2 hours!!
If you don’t know about Tampa Bay Watch, you should.
Tampa Bay Watch, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit stewardship program dedicated exclusively to the protection and restoration of the marine and wetland environments of the Tampa Bay estuary through scientific and educational programs.
Here’s an article I wrote about them back in 2007 and they’re still doing amazing work for all of us today.
Now just because you missed out on this event, don’t worry they have another great event coming up on November 13th. It’s their 4th annual Evening for the Bay. We’ll be there and we’d love to see others committed to keeping our “bluest backyards” blue and healthy join us there. It’s from 6-10 pm all the event details are >> here <<
Hope you enjoy this really short video are some pictures I took of the fun we had – thanks again to all the fabulous sponsors.

Pinellas County Florida Beaches offer Fun, Sun and amazing Sunday Sunsets
January 27th, 2008 Categories: Pinellas County, Sunday Sunsets, Tampa Beach Living, Tierra Verde Florida
Pinellas County Florida is a Warm and Wonderful Place to Live
Pinellas County Florida – Ok, I have shared the many times how we have camped and enjoyed hanging out at Fort DeSoto Park and beach at the southermost point of Pinellas County. Every time I’m there I am so thankful that our county forefathers preserved so much green space and public beaches for the people of Pinellas County. (approx 1 million people live here).
This sunset photo was taken off the southernmost point along the beach where the channel connects Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. It’s not uncommon to see huge ships and tankers going in and out of the Port of Tampa here.

Clearwater Beach Florida – Maybe you remember the 80′s hit from the group named Timbuk3 titled “The Futures So Bright (I Gotta Wear Shades)”. Here is the link if you want to see & hear the video.
That song reminds me of what our local Clearwater Florida real estate market for home and condo resales should look like in 2008 and beyond as local Tampa Florida real estate market conditions continue to improve.
National Association of Realtors reports that in this market, our Tampa Bay economy is adding jobs, mortgage rates remain in our favor, our second home market is healthy, our location near the beach continues to be attractive, and further production cuts in new home construction should lower supply all of which should lead to an increase in home prices and lower inventory in 2008. (Email us to request full report supplied by National Association of REALTORS )
So, if you are in the market to buy a first or second home in the Tampa
Bay area check out what some of our real estate customers are saying, then call us to find the right home for you.

Camping Near Clearwater Beach Florida – Fishing, Biking, Shelling and Sunday’s Sunset
December 16th, 2007 Categories: Fishing, Parks and Recreration, Pinellas County, Sunday Sunsets, Tampa Beach Living, Things to do, Tierra Verde Florida
Clearwater Beach Florida Sunset Series
I’m breaking all the rules this week since this week’s sunset is found south of Clearwater Beach FL in Tierra Verde Florida and Ft Desoto Park. We’ve even included a video to help share the experience this week. So next week we’ll be back to normal with a sunset quote and the spotlight on one special sunset.
We got to take time off this past week from selling homes and condos on Clearwater Beach Florida to go tent camping in Tierra Verde with my parents who came down from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to spend some quality time with my family and be here to celebrate some family birthdays.
Jack was a trooper and was running back and forth between the campsite and Clearwater Beach since we had clients visiting from Massachusetts along with several buyers working towards closing on their homes for Christmas.
We sometimes
forget how lucky we are to be able to do “tent camping” along the Gulf beaches near Clearwater for a variety of reasons. First, it’s such comfortable weather it was in the 80’s all week; Second, it’s a bargain when you consider it costs less than $40 per night with electricity, running water, clean and safe facilities and more; Third, it’s truly a piece of waterfront paradise on the Gulf of Mexico.
The best part of camping around Clearwater FL in the winter (ok actually there is one more week of fall left but don’t tell my friends up north) is you get to experience the best parts of Pinellas County Gulf beach living without having to travel very far.
You can go fishing from the park seawall or the gulf of mexico pier; birdwatching along the Great Florida Bird Trail, collecting sand dollars and shelling along the beach, biking through the trails, and just hanging out relaxing in the hammocks – ending each day watching the sun dip below the water with the promise of another beautiful day tomorrow.
If you have a sunset you want to share just email it to me at cyndee@sandbarstosunsets.com
Clearwater Beach Real Estate Agents Favorite Florida Sunset from week Camping

Thanks for allowing me to share a little about the fun we have living in Clearwater Florida and our extensive parks and recreation system in Pinellas County that we feel justified in bragging about.
As the sunset on our week of old fashion family fun at Ft Desoto Park – it was great to experience a week with no gameboys, no TV’s just serene walks, personal talks and hanging out in the hammocks.
I thought you’d get a kick seeing our youngest enjoy sleeping under the Florida stars in shorts – we definitely had perfect Clearwater winter weather.
This is the picture I’ll carry in my mind of “total relaxation and comfort” – isn’t that what we all are looking for. Not to worry, we’ve got lots of great outdoor retreats here in and around Clearwater Florida. We look forward to sharing more special sunsets from our piece of paradise.
Wishing you a great upcoming week – remember not to get too hurried with all the holiday hustle and bustle to enjoy some old fashion fun with your family and friends.
From our family to your’s have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
Gotta a local sunset – won’t you share?

Sunday’s Sunset | Tierra Verde Florida Beach Sunset at Fort Desoto Park
December 2nd, 2007 Categories: Clearwater Beach Florida, Sunday Sunsets, Tampa Beach Living, Things to do, Tierra Verde Florida, Waterfront Living
Clearwater Beach Florida Sunset Series
Here’s the second in our series of featuring one of the best parts of Clearwater Florida real estate – our beautiful Tampa Bay sunsets. Living on the west coast of Florida great sunsets are just one of the perks – living on coast – beach sunsets are just the cherry on top. Here’s our favorite sunset of the week that we took. If you have a sunset you want to share just email it to me at cyndee@sandbarstosunsets.com
This week we ended the week after Thanksgiving with 80 degree weather in Clearwater Beach Florida. Can you believe it was the start of December as well – all the vacationers liked that.
There is something magical that touches my “imagination” as David Henry Thoreau poem says when the sun dips each evening into the Gulf of Mexico. The clouds and variety of colors definitely had my creative thoughts going while there’s also nothing like it to relax me . Being from Clearwater Beach Florida we take our sunsets seriously.
We even have a nightly celebration at Pier 60 so if you’re looking for a place to catch a sunset from you can always count on Pier 60 for the nightly sunset and festivities.
This week we enjoyed a beautiful Tierra Verde beach sunset and the contrast of the darkness of night as the sun dipped down. Because there are no lights around Fort Desoto it creates a sunsets of shades and shadows of a different kind. The boys were camping there with the local Boy Scout Troop.

Clearwater Florida Waterfront Homes| WARNING: Why Inspections Save Home Buyer $1000s!
November 18th, 2007 Categories: Clearwater Beach Florida, Clearwater Florida, Island Estates Florida, Luxury Real Estate, Tampa Bay FL Luxury Real Estate, Tampa Beach Living, Tierra Verde Florida, Waterfront Living
Clearwater Florida Home Buyers Get Inspection - Avoid Costly Mistake
Clearwater Florida Real Estate - You’ve heard us write about the need for thorough Clearwater home inspections and about Clearwater FL Pool Home inspections and how valuable we think the are when purchasing any home in Clearwater Florida.
Well, another example happened recently that only solidifies the point that a home inspection is ALWAYS worth the money in our opinion.
We have a Clearwater home buyer who we were helping buy an older canal get-a-way home with a great waterfront view and boat dock out back. This Clearwater waterfront property represented a great value for this home buyer and he was anxious to close the real estate deal because he just knew this distressed waterfront house was worth at least $150,000 more than he was going to pay for it – a bargain by most people’s standards here in the Tampa Bay area.
Clearwater Homes - Buyers Get Better Bargain after Home Inspections
Fortunately for this Clearwater home buyer, we insisted upon a home inspection and in slowing down the home purchase process to make sure the buyer would still be happy with his real estate purchase in a few months or years.
Until you have a thorough home inspection there are so many unknowns and unanswered questions. Do you realize the new Florida roofing codes of October 2007 can mean replacing a roof on a home you’re thinking of buying could be double what you were planning on? As we’ve said before – we’re not about selling any one house, we’re about helping people find their Clearwater dream home so they are happy for the long haul.
As you might expect, this older Clearwater waterfront home needed quite a bit of work and the cost of these items quickly ate up the ”savings” the buyer was expecting to have. Remember it’s always – Home Buyer Beware and inspections give you the information you need to make informed decisions and allow you to avoid costly mistakes.
So what happened, well now, we are re-negotiating a new deal on this Clearwater waterfront property based on the facts and the home buyer is so happy he listened to our advice.
To purchase real estate in the Clearwater Florida area please call Cyndee & I at (727) 422–8901 and check out our customer testimonials below to know that we will make you a happy home buyer too.
Have you ever had a home inspection that protected you from a potential “money pit”? We’d love to hear your experience.

Tierra Verde Florida | Tampa Bay Watch keeps our Waters Blue and Estuaries Healthy
November 4th, 2007 Categories: Green Living, Tierra Verde Florida, Waterfront Living
Keeping Tampa Bay’s Water Blue by being Green
Tierra Verde Florida – I want to introduce you to a wonderful 501(c)(3) eco-friendly non-profit we are members of here in the Tierra Verde, Florida – Tampa Bay Watch
They are located at: Tampa Bay Watch, 3000 Pinellas Bayway South, Tierra Verde, FL 33715
Tampa Bay Watch is very active in a variety of programs and education to make a real difference by helping to Conserve and Restore Tampa Bay.
They are working to restore the Bay everyday through:
- Building Oyster Domes;
- Oyster Reef Enhancement Programs;
- Salt Marsh Planting Program;
- Sea Grass Planting Program;
- Coastal Clean Up Program;
- Mono-filament Program;
- Great Bay Scallop Search;
- Invasive Plant Removal
They do a great job of helping Tampa Bay’s waters stay blue (through their green efforts).
They organized 13 years ago when the waters of Tampa Bay were facing serious environmental challenges that threatened our extensive eco-system which supports 70% of the local fish, shell fish and more wildlife at some point in their life.
Did you know that Tampa Bay (the body of water) is the largest estuary in the state of Florida?
-
It is and it is made up of “400 square miles of open water and 2,300 square miles of highly developed watershed that supports industry, agriculture, and a diverse population in excess of 2.4 million people.” – Source: TampaBayWatch.org
Tampa Bay Watch’ s purpose is the protecting and restoring Tampa Bay’s estuary, as well as, restoring the marine and wetlands environments. They focus on the delicate ecosystem that exists in the waters of Tampa Bay.
History of Cunningham Key Home to Tampa Bay Watch
From Tampa Bay Watch’s website I learned about their history and their current location – a waterfront piece of property to die for at the southern most point of Tierra Verde. In the 1960s the Department of Transportation dredged Tampa bay and this piece of land known as Cunningham Key became part of the causeway connecting Tierra Verde to Ft. De Soto park.
In 2000 Pinellas County and the State of Florida Greenways Program worked together to purchase the Cunningham Key property to be the headquarters for Tampa Bay Watch’s environmental protection and restoration programs.
All in a Green Days Work – Caring Volunteers Make a Difference:
On a recent Saturday morning the Tampa Bay Watch volunteers hit Fort Desoto beach and the surrounding mangrove areas to do a Coastal Clean Up. Look at the results in the picture to the left.
Being a frequent visitor to the beach I was amazed at just how much trash was collected – just imagine what our beaches would be like if this wasn’t done periodically.
As a Clearwater Mom with 2 Scouts we always try to leave Tampa Bay beaches places better than we found them, this is the crux of what Tampa Bay Watch does everyday in so many ways.
Below is a video with a Tampa Bay Watch intern, Jessica, kind enough to share more about www.TampaBayWatch.org.
You can support their efforts, Join Tampa Bay Watch and become a member for as little as $25 a year.

Clearwater Florida Real Estate Agents experience Natural Florida
October 23rd, 2007 Categories: Clearwater Florida, Fishing, Green Living, Pinellas County, Tampa Beach Living, Things to do, Tierra Verde Florida
Camping under the Stars | Pinellas County Florida | Ft Desoto Park
My family takes a long weekend every year to go primative – well ok, to me primitive is 3 days without “real estate” and without my laptop however, we did have electricity and running water at Ft DeSoto Park’s popular campground located in the southern most point in Pinellas County – just take Tierra Verde till it ends at the #1 Beach in the US (in 2005).
I joke about being on Survivor and my one luxury item is my hammock that can be thrown up anywhere under the canopy of cabbage palms. The good news is that we actually have 3 so we create a special hangout when we go.
Ft Desoto Park in Pinellas County offers some of the best Florida camping. You have the largest boat ramp in Pinellas county (8+ ramps) so it’s great for boating, jet skiing and fishing.
Then you have easy water access for kayaking and windsurfing and if that’s not enought the Great Florida Birding Trail runs through it so it’s great for birding and their is a fishing pier and amazing beaches.
Now if you have a dog in your life, not to worry, Ft Desoto Park has a Paw Playground and even a rare Dog Beach – the Paw Playground was voted one of the Top 10 in the US in 2006.
We saw incredible sunsets, nature up close and even the racoons think they’re family. At $30–$40/night to camp it’s a real bargain too.
It was a great time and believe it or not the world of Tampa Bay Real Estate was fine and waiting for me when I returned to it on Monday!
It’s an important reminder that we are lucky enough to call Clearwater Florida home and we need to take time to enjoy all the great things it has to offer – like eveyone else – that’s why we live in Tampa Bay – or as we like to call it ~ Paradise!
