Treasure Island, Florida- Sanding Ovations Master Cup and Music Festival is in it’s 4th year and held annually in Treasure Island  in November – usually on the weekend before Thanksgiving.  Our local group PinellasEats went out on Sunday afternoon and took in the festival, a gorgeous sunset and hung out for a bite at Sloppy Joe’s on Treasure Island FL. 10 world class scultptures turned 50 tons of sand into works of art you owe it to yourself to see. Artists and sculptures from all over the world come to create their masterpieces for the Sanding Ovations competition and for all of us to enjoy. The event usually has a large festival with it as well with bands playing and a huge craft show with vendors and the likes along the sand on Treasure Island. I was surprised to even see car parked on the beach for $10 each at the St Pete lot just north of the event.

There is a competition and also they award the people’s choice. This year one of the local schools had a great idea I thought and made to “photo ops” with one sand sculpture that was an Angel that said piece on earth and then there was a snow man that had presents (made out of sand & water) next to him that said Happy Holidays – it would have made the perfect family shots for your Christmas or Holiday cards.

St Pete Florida is well known for holding the record for most days of sunshine in a year but this week it’s shining with the best in fashion and art as the St Pete Art & Fashion Week takes place.  There are great events every day starting with the St Pete Art and Fashion Week Opening Night Soiree - This cocktail party included a meet & greet with artists and designers, cash bar, hors d’ouervres , exclusive art/fashion displays, music, special guests and more. Clearwater Beach Florida – If you are coming to the 2012 Republican National Convention or just will be in the area the next two weeks there’s one more thing to add to your list of fun and free things to do – visit the Clearwater Dolphin Exhibit at  Clearwater Beach Pier 60.  Jack and I went last weekend to beat the crowds and bring back some photos and video for you.

The Clearwater Beach Chamber and local businesses worked together to sponsor and create an amazing exhibit of art – 50 bottle note Dolphins line the sidewalk at Pier 60 – you will be greeted by these festive dolphins each with a personality all its own. I shot a quick video to give you a sneak peek at them however I would strongly encourage you to go see them for yourself – they will only be on exhibit at Pier 60 until Sept 4th.

Tampa Florida – Well it’s 2012 and it’s predicted that by 2013 about 90% for Google search results will include videos.

• Will they find you and your business?
• Don’t you think it’s time to stop letting that Beast called “Video” intimidate you?

I have to confess, even though we’ve been creating videos in our Real Estate Business since 2007, for most of that time I managed NOT be the one in front of the camera.  There are definitely lots of ways to use video in your business and not be in front of the camera, however, when you do allow yourself to step in front of the camera,  there is a real ability to connect with people watching that is like being their in person.

Things really changed for me last year when I made the decision to conquer my fears and insecurities and slay that Beast called Video once and for all.  Of course as luck would have it that decision coincided with some weird medical condition (that doctors still can’t determine) that caused me to lose much of my hair rather suddenly- talk about a girls worst nightmare. Now if you think getting in front of the video camera is nerve wracking – try getting in front of a camera while you are mysteriously going bald – take my word for it, it’s not pretty.

Luckily 6 years of blogging and participating in social media had helped me get comfortable and appreciate the value of transparency and authenticity.  I knew I was with clients everyday who saw me exactly the same way that I was reluctant to seen on video. Now really, how silly was that? Well at that moment I realized the same thing and began to laugh at myself. The Beast wasn’t really Video – the beast was within, my insecurities were holding me back from using video in a way that would help my current and future clients know our market, our community and us so much better.  So that day I made 2 decisions. One, I decided to buy several fashionable hats would come in handy and two,  I decided I really could do this…and I  can tell you – that’s exactly what I did.  A week from Monday I look forward to sharing my best tips and ideas to help you do the same.
